Monsieur Ibrahim

Once I got over all of the prostitution near the beginning of the movie I liked it well enough.

It's a nice "coming of age" story for a kid with a "hard knock life" who meets the "well-meaning older and philosophical gentleman" who helps him through life with some help from the Koran, quips, and ends up helping himself get over his lonliness.

Sounds trite, I know, but it was cute, well acted, and the soundtrack was of excellent choice and timing.

Did I mention it's French? Since I speak the language, it's always interesting for me to see how (badly) a movie is subtitled into English. In this movie, at a particularly poingnant moment, they screwed up. Ah well, too much to ask, right? Ha. Learn the foreign languages kiddos, it helps immeasurably.
